mantra for the lonely
In fourth grade, one literature-loving teacher introduced me to poetry. Since then, I’ve explored writing both as a passion and as a career, and I’ve been gifted with many incredible opportunities to share my words. I’ve read aloud on stage and submitted to many a lit mag, but I’ve always truly wanted to see my poetry printed in a collection…
Until now. I am beyond proud to introduce mantra for the lonely, my debut chapbook of poetry.
(If you’ve never heard the term before, a “chapbook” is a short book of poems––typically 15-30––which are connected by some common theme or idea. In my case, mantra for the lonely explores the balance of light and dark in the human experience.)
With this book, I hope to spark conversation about some uncomfortable topics. The stigma around mental health has left many feeling misunderstood and alone despite the prevalence of mental illness in today’s world. I don’t believe this is from a lack of resources, but a lack of empathy. Poetry is a powerful way to take a glimpse into realities other than your own, so I can only hope my readers will find these words as thought-provoking as I do.
As of now, mantra for the lonely is available to purchase in print or as an ebook on Blurb. I hope to expand to other publishing sites in the coming weeks, so be on the lookout for updates!
Thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement! <3 Gabrielle
